Hey y’all. The Back Alley String Band has two free outdoor gigs coming up fast.
On Saturday, Aug. 4, we will play at a music festival in Milwaukie. The Thiessen Hill Community Festival will feature live music, food, games, fun and neighborhood connection. The festival happens from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at the Oak Hills Presbyterian Church, 5101 S.E. Thiessen Road, Milwaukie, OR 97267. We’ll be out on the church lawn. The band starts at 1 p.m. and will play two sets, ending about 3 p.m. The festival is free and open to the public.
On Tuesday, Aug. 7, the band will play a reprise performance at Portland’s Laurelhurst Park. We played last year for the Laurelhurst Neighborhood Association, and they liked it so much they asked us to come on back this year. It’s free and open to the public. We’ll start our first set around 5:30 p.m. and will play two hour-long sets. Park on Southeast Ankeny Street and look for the stage set up in the fir grove somewhere between Southeast Laurelhurst Place and Southeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard.
The sponsors of Wednesday’s benefit show for SPOON asked us to ask you to please RSVP if you plan to come.
Background/reminder: The band is playing Wednesday, May 30 from 6-8 p.m. as a benefit for SPOON, a non-profit foundation dedicated to feeding hungry kids.
The event is at the Lagunitas Community Room at 237 N.E. Broadway, Suite 300.
This fun, informal event kicks off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 at the Lagunitas Community Room, 237 N.E. Broadway in Portland. Beer and food provided by Lagunitas, Sizzle Pie, Yeti, New Seasons Market and Por Que No.
It’s open to anyone and is free. (Of course, it’s a fundraiser, so please think about the need and give according to your means and your wishes.)

Hope to see you there!
We’ll be back at the Ross Island Grocery on Friday, April 7. We’ll start as usual at 6:30 p.m. Tell your friends. And thanks for everyone who has come to see us and brought friends from near and far. Hope to see you there!
Open the poster and share it on social media!
It’ll be good to play for you again at the ol’ Ross Island. So come on down and join the band on Friday, Jan. 6. The music will start at 6:30 and will go to 8:30. We’re looking forward to seeing friends, old and new, all ages, too. Hell, we’re looking forward to seeing each other! We’ll have some new songs we’ve been working on, plus your favorites.
We’re playing at Blast Burger this Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. This is a new venue for us so we’d love to see you there. Blast Burger is at 315 S.W. First St. in Lake Oswego, right next to Millennium Park. Happy Hour starts at 8, so there’s an incentive to stick around for the second set (in addition to the amazing music)!
Screw winter and raise a glass this Friday night at the Ross Island Grocery. The music starts at 6:30 p.m.
